Last Two Verses of Surah Baqarah

·      Protection at Night:

Surah Baqarah protects its reciter overnight as Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said in a hadith narrated by Abu Mas’ud,

“If somebody recited the last two Verses of Surat Al-Baqara at night, that will be sufficient for him.” (Bukhari)

This demonstrates that reciting the last two verses of Surah Baqarah before going to bed provides overnight protection. However, many scholars disagree on whether the phrase “enough for him” refers to having enough tahajjud, having enough protection against Shaytan, or simply having enough good deeds. Whatever interpretation you prefer the important thing is that we are aware of this benefit and should take advantage of it. So, instead of scrolling through social media until you fall asleep and your phone falls from your grasp, seek Allah’s (ta’ala) protection with Surah Baqarah verses and go to bed.

Surah Al-Baqarah has enormous value and great rewards for us in this life and the next. According to Hadith, the last verses of Surah Al-Baqarah are one of the gifts bestowed upon our Prophet (S.A.W.) during the Night Journey (Shab-e-Meraaj):

·        Protection from Black Magic & other harmful things:

In Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) tradition, he was once targeted by sorcerers, but he countered their effect by reciting Quranic verses. In various rules, various parts of the Quran are described as having a positive impact on the general well-being of a person in terms of counteracting and preventing the effects of witchcraft or becoming a better practicing Muslim. The Quran contains a collection of Ayats (Surah Baqarah) and short Surahs that should be recited as protection and antidote to Black Magic, Jinn, Witchcraft, Shirr, Sorcery, Evil Eye, and other harmful things.

·        Hump/High Peek of Quran:

According to Allah’s Prophet (S.A.W.):

“Everything has a hump (or a high peak). The hump of the Quran is Surah Al Baqarah.” If recited at night, no devil will enter his house for three nights; if repeated during the day, no devil will enter for three days.”

(Tirmidhi, 2878)

The preceding Hadith demonstrates the significance of Surah Al-Baqarah, as our Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W.) himself stated that it is the pinnacle of the Quran and we all, as Muslims, know the importance of the Quran.

·        Gift of Shab-e-Meeraj:

“When Allah’s Messenger (S.A.W.) was taken on the Night Journey. He stated: “It was gold moths. And three things were given to me: the five daily prayers, the last verses of Surah Al-Baqarah, and whoever of my Ummah die without associating anything with Allah will be forgiven for Al-Muqhimat.”
